Fishing Destinations
* Local Rivers:
Few destinations in the freshwater world offer as much fly fishing diversity as Coyhaique. Local rivers are well suited for both wading and floating and offer great dryfly, streamer, and nymph fishing. Literally hundreds of miles of trout filled water is within an easy drive from the lodge. With so many options to choose from we’re able to create customized itineraries built around your schedule, the best available angling, and your interests and angling abilities. We fish some of the most famous rivers in Patagonia Chile.
Simpson
Maniguales
Asien
Paloma
Nirehuo
We offer several float days during your stay. Fish in the 12-22inch rage are common. Occasionally we see fish over 6 pounds.
There are countless other springs and streams in the area that are loaded with wild trout. It is not uncommon to wade all day without seeing other anglers.
Our smaller fisheries can provide large numbers of trout from 10-18inches.
* Local Lakes:
Castor
Pollux
Frío
Monreal
Elizalde etc...
The Coyhaique area is home to some of the best lake fishing in the world! Not always a favorite among anglers, lake fishing can be tough. Chilean still waters will change your mind. The local still waters rage in all sizes. Some provide unbelievable dry fly fishing. They also hold trout of all sizes. Dedicated anglers have a chance to take fish over 10 pounds.
* Travel time:
Most fishing destinations are within an hour. Other locations are more remote and travel time can be a couple hours from the lodge.
Accommodations
Located on the shoulder of the Simpson River, La Pasarela Lodge is perfectly positioned to access the best fly fishing in the Aisen Region. A family run operation, La Pasarela has been catering to anglers for over 25 years, making it the oldest lodge in Coyhaique. It also has one distinct advantage over other local lodges. Angler’s accommodations are literal within casting distance of the Simpson River. Perfect for hardcore anglers that want to fish as much as possible and great for those who just like to enjoy the evening at rivers edge.
Recommended Gear
* Rods & Lines
I recommend that you bring two or three rods. The area has a large variety of fisheries.
3-4wt. For smaller streams and rivers.
5-6wt. For medium rivers and float trips.
7-8wt. For larger rivers and lakes.
The lighter rods should be equipped with dry lines. A sink tip or shooting head of some kind is recommended for your heavier rods. 150 or 200gr. shooting head is perfect for streamer fishing in the local rivers and lakes.
